Originally an antique shop back in the 1990's this (1890's) timber and iron workers cottage is crammed full of relics and unusual artifacts from old Charters Towers.
It is now home to a private collection put together by the present owner/curator Alan Silverwood. (an ex-prospector/bush surveyor).
At this time of year the cottage is only open to interested persons who want to here some "stories from the past" and perhaps learn how to pan for gold (like a pro).
There are 3 tours available.
1. A personal tour of the cottage and the private collection with a gold panning demonstration. For a small extra charge visitors can try their luck in the "tailings" on site.
2. Test yourself with the "mystery" objects guessing game - maybe win a prize??
3. For the more adventurous, take the R rated tour? R for "risqué)
